Kochi and Disaster. June 19

I awoke early and had a nice breakfast. Scrolled through Google News on my phone, checked Facebook for updates, and read some emails. Went back to my room and got dressed for the pool. I set my laundry out and went to enjoy the hot tub. My left leg is pretty much screwed up. It's still swollen pretty badly and painful to walk on, but I've been dealing with this crap for years. I'll probably need surgery to get the calcium (bone fragments, the size of kidney stones) removed from the ankle joint.

I enjoyed the soak for a while and after getting too hot, I got out to lounge. My cell phone was in a bag and I heard it beep. I picked it up to see it say it was shutting down because it was too hot. No biggie. It happens. About two hours later, near noon, I'm back in my room and the phone is cool to the touch. I go to turn it on and I feel it vibrate but nothing comes on the screen.

It's now 2:30 and it still won't work. I've Googled everything I can find to fix it. Nothing works, even a factory reset. I am so screwed. You have no idea how much you depend on your phone until it doesn't work.

We are in Matsuyama tomorrow and I have a culture tour with Geisha tea. I really wanted to get good pictures of that! If it isn't working by tomorrow, I might buy a burner phone and just swap the SIM card to see if that gets me working. I can't translate, can't do currency calculations or anything without the phone. ARGH!!!
