October 1st marked a day at sea, a time for relaxation and introspection as the ship glided over the vast, undulating waters. The weather, unfortunately, was too windy and cold to engage in many of the outdoor activities that one might typically enjoy while cruising. As a result, the day was spent in a leisurely manner, nestled in a cozy spot on the ship with a good book in hand, allowing the gentle sway of the ocean to lull me into a state of calm. The sea days often serve as a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of port excursions, providing an opportunity to recharge before the next adventure.

DAY 5-The following day, Thursday, we docked in the charming coastal town of Warnemunde, Germany. Eager to explore, I woke up early to catch the train for a much-anticipated tour of Berlin. The journey to the Berlin city center lasted approximately three hours, during which I marveled at the changing landscapes outside the window. Once we arrived, we boarded a comfortable bus that whisked us around the city to take in its rich history and iconic landmarks. The weather was pleasant, albeit cool, which made for a refreshing atmosphere as we explored. Among the highlights of the day were the famous Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of unity and peace; Checkpoint Charlie, the historic crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War; and the remnants of the Berlin Wall, which serve as poignant reminders of the city's tumultuous past. Each site was steeped in history, prompting reflection on the events that shaped the world. After our guided tour, we were given a few hours of "on your own" time, allowing us the freedom to wander through the streets, sample local cuisine, and soak in the vibrant culture before we had to catch the train back to the ship. It was a very long day, filled with exploration and discovery, but incredibly rewarding.

DAY 6- Next on our itinerary was Gdynia, Poland, a quaint little city known for its maritime charm and friendly locals. The atmosphere was laid-back, and while there wasn't an abundance of major attractions, the warm hospitality of the people made the visit enjoyable. Strolling through the streets, I appreciated the simplicity and beauty of the surroundings, though the options for activities were somewhat limited.

DAY 7- Saturday brought another day at sea, but this time the weather was markedly less favorable. Strong winds whipped across the deck, and the waves reached heights of around three meters, creating a rather tumultuous experience. The chill in the air was palpable, prompting many passengers, including myself, to seek refuge indoors. I decided to try my luck at the casino, hoping for a bit of excitement to break the monotony of the stormy day.

DAY 8- Today, we find ourselves in Tallinn, Estonia, which has quickly become my favorite port of call. Despite the persistent rain and cold temperatures, the city's rich historical tapestry captivated me. Tallinn boasts a medieval area that dates back to the 1400s, showcasing well-preserved architecture and cobblestone streets that transport visitors back in time. In stark contrast, remnants of Soviet-era buildings and artifacts coexist with modern twenty-first-century architecture, creating a fascinating blend of the old and the new. One of the most striking experiences was visiting a KGB prison, where I gained insight into the somber history of the region during the Soviet occupation. The ship is scheduled to remain in port until 8 PM, but by 3 PM, the day's exploration had worn me out, prompting me to return to the ship to write this post and reflect on the day's adventures. Tomorrow, we set sail for Helsinki, Finland, and I look forward to the next chapter of our journey!
