The flight was nice, from Orlando to London, with mostly smooth skies and friendly service that made the journey enjoyable. I settled into my seat, watched a few movies, and even managed to catch a glimpse of the English countryside as we began our descent. However, the drive from Heathrow to Southampton turned out to be a completely different experience, and not one I would soon forget. All was going well until my driver, seemingly fatigued from the ealy hour, fell asleep behind the wheel. In a shocking moment, the vehicle veered off the side of the road, jolting me alert and sending my heart racing. Thankfully, we escaped without any serious injuries, but needless to say, there was no tip for that driver. After what felt like an eternity, we eventually made it to the port, where I boarded the NCL Prima at 11:30 AM. The Prima is a relatively new ship, and I was immediately taken by its stunning design and modern amenities. My stateroom is a Balcony Cabin, and it is very plush, featuring elegant furnishings and a private balcony that offers a breathtaking view of the ocean.

The first night aboard was all about getting situated and familiarizing myself with the various activities and amenities available on the ship. I took a leisurely stroll around the deck, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and the excitement of fellow passengers. For dinner, I decided to treat myself at Cagney's Steak House, renowned for its exquisite cuisine. I indulged in a perfectly cooked filet mignon, accompanied by sautéed mushrooms and fresh asparagus, all of which were delicious and satisfying. After dinner, I ventured into the casino, where I tried my luck at a few games, but my enthusiasm quickly turned into a realization that I hadn't been to sleep in over 26 hours. The combination of travel fatigue and the excitement of the ship caught up with me, so I decided to retire for the night, looking forward to the adventures that awaited me.

Day 2 brought us to Bruges, Belgium, a picturesque city that I had been eager to explore. It was about a 30-minute ride from the port, and as we approached, I was struck by the charm of this very old town, with many buildings dating back to the 1500s. The cobblestone streets, lined with historic architecture, felt like stepping back in time. Horse-drawn carriages clattered by, adding to the enchanting atmosphere. I made it a point to try the famous Belgian waffles and sample some local beer, both of which were delightful. I walked for about four hours, wandering through the narrow alleys and admiring the canals that crisscross the city before reluctantly heading back to the ship for our 6 PM departure.

Day 3 found us in Amsterdam, Holland. Unfortunately, the weather was quite nasty, with rain and chilly winds, which led me to make the decision to stay onboard the ship. Having visited Amsterdam before, I didn't feel like I was missing out on much. Instead, I took advantage of the thermal spa on board, enjoying the soothing warmth and relaxation it offered. Later, I found dinner at the sushi bar, where I savored fresh sashimi and sushi rolls that were expertly prepared. Afterward, I decided to try my luck again in the casino, followed by a lively karaoke session. It was during this fun-filled evening that I met some fellow Navy veterans, and we all had a great time swapping sea stories and reminiscing about our experiences, creating a bond over shared memories.

Tomorrow, we will be making our way to Berlin, a city rich in history and culture that I am very much looking forward to exploring. I promise to post more details about my adventures then. I apologize for the delay in this post—I encountered some Internet issues that prevented me from updating sooner, but now that I’m back online, I’m excited to share more of my journey with you.
